LENA Certified Staff

Congratulations to Ms. Eunice and Ms. Dorsey for completing LENA (Language ENvironment Analysis) Certification.  This important program measures the amount of talking that takes place between teachers and students.  The amount of talk with students accelerates brain growth, boosts social-emotional development, and increases kindergarten readiness.  Our teachers used over 392,100 words during the 10-week study period!  The students used over 11,900 words!

PAYC Garden

The PAYC garden is thriving despite the hot temperatures this summer. Our students are learning about gardening and helping to harvest all of the fresh fruits and vegetables. Corn, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cantaloupe and more are all going strong in the garden.

Mission Statement

Founded in 1995, Positive Attitude Youth Center's vision of its ministry is threefold. First, we serve  at-risk families and communities with needed resources. Secondly, we attend to the whole child: spiritually, academically, and physically. Finally, we give students and families the opportunity to improve socially, build sustainable and healthy lifestyles, and build character.  Through this vision, PAYC hopes to see better neighborhoods, less crime, and more thoughtful choices from children and young adults.
